Exchange students are international students who come to Missouri University of Science and Technology for a semester or academic year from one of our reciprocal exchange partner universities or through one of our consortium agreements. Exchange students usually come to S&T on J-1 student visas and pay tuition at their home universities.
As an exchange student, you will take regular S&T courses alongside American and other international students.
To apply to S&T as an exchange student, your home institution must officially nominate you for acceptance before you can apply to S&T. If applying through one of our consortium agreements, your home institution must officially nominate you for acceptance to the consortium, and then the consortium must officially nominate you for acceptance before you can apply to S&T. Contact us by email at studyabroad@mst.edu with any questions.
Once officially nominated to Missouri S&T, we will provide instructions for the online application process.
After you complete your online application, you will receive an email with an acceptance package containing immigration documentation needed to obtain your J-1 visa to study in the U.S. as an exchange student. All supporting documents should be uploaded to the S&T application portal.
