All presentations cover the basics: Why study abroad, eligibility requirements, program options and how to apply. We can also customize the presentation to highlight programs or opportunities for a specific audience.

Lead a Study Abroad Program: Call for Proposals
Deadline to submit proposal: 12–18 months before proposed programs dates
Missouri S&T Study Abroad is seeking proposals for faculty-led programs. Faculty-led study abroad programs offer students the opportunity to travel abroad as a group with an S&T faculty member while earning valuable credit toward their degrees. These programs are a critical aspect of campus internationalization efforts and provide strong international cohort experiences for students who may not be able to commit to a full semester or year abroad.
Overview
The Study Abroad Office approves faculty-led programs per season/term:
- Winter Break
- Spring Break
- Summer
Faculty interested in proposing a program should review the eligibility requirements, program expectations, and application timeline below.
- Current Faculty Status & Teaching Requirement
To lead a study abroad program, faculty must:
- Be a current Missouri S&T faculty member
- Teach the proposal course associated with the program
- This course may be taught on campus prior to travel or while abroad
- Prior Travel Experience or Site Visit Plan
Faculty should ideally:
- Have previous travel experience in the proposed destination OR
- Be actively planning a site visit before taking students abroad
- Unique Program Location
To ensure diverse global opportunities for students:
- Proposed programs must be in a unique location
- Duplicate destinations are not permitted
- Faculty should review current offerings on the Study Abroad website before submitting a proposal
Application Timeline
Deadline to submit proposal: 12–18 months before proposed programs dates
Key Deadlines
- Winter Break Program Proposals Due:Jan 15th 2026 for Winter 2027 Program
- Spring Break Program Proposals Due:June 15th 2026 for Spring 2027 Program
- Summer Program Proposals Due:August 15th 2026 for Summer 2027 Programs
How to Apply
- Submit the online proposal form to the study abroad office (Kayla Burns: klbmt9@mst.edu) for reviewal.

Complete the proposal and deliver or submit the form with all appropriate signatures to Kayla Burns in 101 Norwood Hall.
