Resources for Parents and Guardians

The Study Abroad Coordinator in the Office of International Affairs is here to guide your son or daughter through the study abroad process. Your support throughout the entire process is extremely important as well. Your son or daughter is embarking on an incredible journey rich in personal, professional, and academic rewards that will last a lifetime.

Missouri University of Science and Technology believes that it has a responsibility in offering the tools for students to feel safe and supported abroad, but that ultimately each student is responsible for his or her own experience abroad. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities from personal safety to being a responsible representative of S&T and the United States. The Association of International Educators has assembled a list of responsibilities that each student should consider before studying overseas. The full report 'Responsible Study Abroad: Good Practices for Health and Safety' includes a list of recommendations for parents of students studying abroad.
